Implants in Dianella
If you hesitate to smile because of missing teeth, we offer a fantastic solution: implants. These tooth replacements are made of a titanium screw inserted into the jawbone and left in place for three months. At that point, we’ll either expose the titanium screw if it was buried, or else remove the abutment, or healing cap. We will then take a mould to create a new tooth that will screw down into the implant.
If you’re looking for an option to replace one or more missing teeth, we’ll start with an initial consult, where we’ll assess the site to determine whether you’re a good candidate. Our experienced dentists will consider how long the tooth has been missing and whether you need grafting.
Personalised Treatment Options for Everyone
Before getting started, our dental team will review your unique situation and determine which option is best for you. If most of your teeth are compromised, we may suggest removing them and replacing them with implants and a prosthesis that attaches onto the titanium screw or a removable denture.
At Grand Promenade Dental Centre, we look at your condition, general health, and lifestyle factors before making a recommendation. Heavy smokers, people with uncontrolled diabetes, and those with poor oral hygiene may not be good candidates for implants. We evaluate everyone case-by-case to ensure you’re getting the best results for you.
What to Expect
If you’re a good candidate, we’ll take a digital scan and then schedule another appointment where we can sit down and review the scan with you. If we’re only replacing a single tooth in the back of your mouth, we can move on fairly quickly. For a comprehensive replacement or front tooth that affects the aesthetics of your smile, we’ll pause and take study models first, so you can see a mock-up of what the final result will look like, either digitally or by trying on a physical mock-up.
Your final result could include a crown on top of the implant or a bridge if you have two implants side by side. We may also equip you with a denture over the implant if you want a removable option.
Anaesthetic and Aftercare
Before we place the titanium screw in your jawbone, we’ll review your options for sedation. We offer IV sedation or general anaesthesia, depending on your needs.
After your procedure, we’ll give you a specific mouthwash to use. Aftercare is easier than an extraction, since there’s no open wound. Pain and discomfort are minimal. We’ll give you a protocol to follow for pain management, and may prescribe antibiotics if necessary.
